‘He is a cheerful child who is anxious to please and get things right. Martin works consistently well and is probably working to the best of his abilities and derives pleasure from art... just occasionally he has a day when for some unknown reason things go wrong.’
— Martin's school report, J K Campbell, 1971

Some things do not change. This consummate realist painter and screenprinter is proving to be a minor revelation as he continues his wayward artistic odyssey. Not being in possession of a particularly sharp or analytical mind, Martin sticks to his strengths, which lie in observation and anecdote. A playful narrative thread runs through his work, at one moment a little dark and woebegone the next humourous and whimsical but always intriguing.

Martin studied at Croydon College, Trent Polytechnic and the Royal Academy Schools sometime in the last century...still working consistently well and probably to the best of his abilities, however those 'unknown reasons' and 'wrong days' continue to loiter with intent....

Martin lives and works in Lambeth, South London. His work can be found in many private collections throughout the UK, Holland, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Australia and Hong Kong.
