The mischievous chaps at @weareinkyfingers known as @rbyrneart and @realhackneydave have curated an exhibition of original screen prints inspired by the hackneyed phenomenon that is LIVE LAUGH LOVE
They have invited a stellar lineup of 30 artists/illustrators and me to reinterpret this popular, well intentioned but ubiquitous slogan.
The exhibition opens at Inky Fingers Gallery on 12 October at 84 Wallis Road, London, E9 5LW Inky Fingers
‘EVIL GLOVE HAUL (anag) 4,5,4’ is my contribution to the mix.
Available to purchase here.
“You will live through vile evil, we are living through a veil of vile evil right now, love will laugh at you and you may even laugh at love, you will probably lose a glove but you’ll find another glove. Unless you are very lucky you won’t live life like it’s a picnic or a stroll in the park, it’ll more likely be a haul, hopefully long rather than short but most definitely a haul, or is that just me! Well in spite of that I’m living, laughing and loving this evil glove haul.”

(Nearest overground station: Battersea Park. I’m aware train strikes are scheduled on this date but hoping the dispute will be resolved by then, if not I suspect I will be spending five hours talking to myself with a crate of wine and a few records to keep me company.... actually that sounds a lot like a normal day in the studio!)
Shapeshifter and The Unfaithful Servant are part of an ongoing series of prints and paintings, inspired by the plaintive tree stumps that punctuate Brockwell Park. The works are odes to these once majestic trees that have been reduced to melancholic relics; petrified shadows of their former selves, wounded, ruined and exposed... yet they still seem to possess an innate majesty and power. They appear to me as sentinels; benign, wounded giants, harbingers and prophets of doom.
Fires Were Started depicts an event that may have happened, may not have happened but could have happened. The image has a vague biblical resonance but is also slightly enigmatic. Is it the narration of teenage kicks going awry, or are the fleeing trio witness to a supernatural phenomenon....
